Traditional food cooked with organic products as well as dinners with traditional music where the lullabies and songs of the Albanian cradle mastered by the ladies of the province make this place very special.Lullabies, nina-nana or cradle songs are simple songs that the mother sings to the child. Their lyrics and melodies may be inherited through generations, or they may be improvised by the mother. Usually lullabies start with the words “nina-nana”.
Cradle songs are the first music a newborn baby listens to from the mother’s voice. She may have learned them from her mother, or she can instantly improvise the words and melody of these songs known as lullabies. Also widespread in the Albanian Alps, lullabies are very simple cradle songs inspired by the deepest feelings of parents for their child. Through these songs wishes for health, love, bravery and wisdom and the child is compared to beautiful elements of nature such as stars, sun, moon, light, etc. By gender, the mother compares the girl to the flowers, while the boy compares the stars. In the mountains of the Albanian Alps, the cradle songs are still sung, varying from valley to valley. With all the common elements, the Shala Valley has different lullabies than the Valbona Valley or the Drini Valley. Babies, it was thought, have an effect on children’s health. Scientific studies of the last decade have proven the therapeutic effect of lullabies on the health of newborn children. Babies slow down heart rate in newborn babies, affecting their breastfeeding as well as a restful sleep.
