Novosej, one of the villages of the former Shishtavec Municipality, is part of the Kukes District in Albania. Surrounded by dense forests and typical alpine vegetation, large pine areas are visible. Hormoq (Conical Pine) is a rare pine that grows in the north / northeast of Albania, in generally isolated forest areas.
This plant grows in northern, central and southeastern Europe, as is the case in northern and northeastern Albania. Hormoqi has a life span of 200-300 years, usually reaching a height of 25-35m, with a trunk diameter of up to 1-1.5 m. This kind of coniferous tree is evergreen. The plant requires strong sunshine, moist soil, good drainage and acidic soil. In this area of Kukes, there’s a new 2 ha forest, which is simply natural, not artificially planted and with a dominance of 90% “Hormoq”.
